Nearly a century of bike know-how in Wandsworth.
Stratton Cycles has served the local cycling community since the 1920s, honing a reputation for honest advice, proper workshop standards and friendly service from our long-standing home near East Hill.
Founded in the Claud Butler era.
Our shop was originally opened in the 1930s by legendary London frame-builder Claud Butler, a pioneer whose machines raced at World Championships and the 1932 Olympics. His original workbench drawers still sit in our workshop today, a daily reminder of the craft we continue.
Craft roots, modern service.
From classic steel to carbon race bikes and e-bikes, we handle everything from routine tunes to meticulous restorations, always with transparent guidance and pride in the work. Customers consistently highlight our straightforward approach and skilled mechanics.
Part of London cycling – Past, Present, Future.
As an independent, we back riders of all kinds: commuters, club cyclists, families and first-timers. Drop in for a quick fix, a full overhaul or simply a chat at the counter, Stratton Cycles is your neighbourhood workshop with big-city expertise.
Stratton Cycles was originally opened on East Hill, Wandsworth during the golden age of British frame building. The workshop became known for skilled hands, honest work and a close connection to London’s fast-growing cycling scene.
Under the guidance of George W. Stratton, the shop became a respected centre of craftsmanship. Frames were built and repaired on site, and riders travelled from across South London for reliable service, custom steel work and dependable advice.
Throughout the following decades, Stratton Cycles remained a constant presence on East Hill, serving commuters, club riders, couriers, families and new cyclists as London changed around it. Generations of riders knew Stratton’s as their neighbourhood bike shop.
Stratton Cycles Ltd was formally incorporated, continuing the workshop tradition and maintaining the long-standing reputation for straightforward service and skilled mechanical care.
The shop continued to support Wandsworth’s diverse cycling culture, from everyday bikes to performance machines and vintage steel restorations, becoming known as one of London’s longest-standing independent bike workshops
In 2025, FixThisBike Ltd took over Stratton Cycles under the leadership of Andrew MacLugash, ensuring the heritage, location and workshop ethos remain at the heart of thebusiness. The team has expanded the workshop capacity, introduced professional collection and delivery services, and modernised systems, while keeping the same emphasis on honest advice, quality servicing and community connection.
Stratton Cycles continues to operate from 101 East Hill, Wandsworth, providing expert servicing, repairs, restoration and custom builds for every kind of rider, from first bikes to
daily commuters to dedicated club cyclists.

You feel like you are walking straight into the workshop and the quality of advice reflects that. Honest and transparent pricing and timings - didn’t even charge me for one of the bikes, and I’d have never have known if it didn’t need the work. I came for a full service and the owner (Mark) had a thorough look, made some quick fixes for free, and said a full service would have been unnecessary. Also gave me tons of advice on how to maintain and repair my bike. Couldn’t recommend more!Posted on Google Adam KnightTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very professional service and really friendly 100%recomendedPosted on Google David ObadiaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Unprofessional, incompetent, and dishonest. Avoid at all costs. I paid this store to package my bike to ship it back to manufacturer to get some work done on it. Manufacturer said they've never seen a bike so poorly packaged, and even individual owners DYI'ing the packaging did better job than that. Things were just "thrown" into the box with many parts damaged or missing. I called to complain and they took no responsibility but said they would refund what they charged (which obviously wouldn't begin to cover the damages but I figured I'd at least take that). 2 months later and after wasting time on a few E-mail exchanges, they have not paid me back.Posted on Google Felicity ClarkeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great shop! Really helpful owner replaced my tyres after cycling over some glass. Speedy and reasonably priced. Highly recommend
